It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of Lord Weatherill, one of the founder patrons and great supporters of the Experience Pakistan project.
Lord Weatherill was one of the original forces behind Experience Pakistan. He was a great help in establishing the competition in 2001 and was on the panel of judges each year. His enthusiasm and support for the project and his willingness to promote it was much appreciated by Humayun Mughal and the Experience Pakistan team at the Akhter Education Trust.
Wazz Mughal, Experience Pakistan Team Leader, offered this tribute, “We will miss Lord Weatherill, not only because he was passionate about Pakistan and developing healthy Euro-Asian relationships, but also because he was a warm and kind-hearted man. He was an invaluable member of the Experience Pakistan project”

Lord (Bernard) Weatherill died at the Marie Curie Community Hospice in Caterham, Surrey, on the night of Sunday 6th May after a short illness. The peer served as speaker from 1983 to 1992, and oversaw the introduction of television cameras into the chamber.
